Les genres d'ostracodes présents, dominés par les Metacopida (Bythocyproidea, Polyzygia, Quasillites, Costatia, Ponderodictya, Jenningsina, Bufina?, Leptoprimitia), indiquent un milieu néritique peu profond infralittoral, proche d'un contexte périrécifal se rattachant à “l'assemblage de l'Eifel” des ostracodes. L'absence des Bairdiacea suggère un faible taux d'oxygène dans des eaux chargées en matière organique. Les caractères de l'ensemble de la faune associée et de la lithologie concordent avec ces conclusions paléoécologiques. The Kersadiou Formation yields a rich and well preserved Middle Devonian fauna in concretions. The ostracod fauna includes 20 benthic species; 10 were already previously described; the remaining 10 are left in open nomenclature. Parabolbinella nov. sp. A is described. This ostracod fauna comprises Palaeocopida l.s. (4 species), Platycopida (3 species), Metacopida (12 species) and one Eridostraca. 14 species of biostratigraphic value occur including Polyzygia neodevonica, allowing the age of the Kersadiou Formation to be assigned to the Lower Middle Givetian, Lower Varcus Zone of Conodonts. The ostracod fauna is dominated by Metacopida (Bythocyproidea, Polyzygia, Quasillites, Costatia, Ponderodictya, Jenningsina, Bufina?, Leptoprimitia) indicating a shallow neritic (near perireefal) environment of “Eifelian ecotype”. The absence of Bairdiacea suggests a low oxygen rate and abundant organic matter in water. Additional faunal and lithologic characters agree with these palaeoecologic results." @default.
