For the 13C experiments 12% enriched tobacco mosaic virus protein has been used, T1 data are interpreted in terms of fast restricted rotations with small amplitude and a correlation time ⪅1.6 × 10−9 sec for all nuclei within the subunits. T2 data provide evidence for rotational motions of the protein subunits within the oligomer with an isotropic correlation time of about 4 × 10−8 sec. The motion of the subunits in the oligomers is discussed in terms of thermodynamic parameters describing the entropy-driven association process." @default.
