- W1995133041 abstract "Abstract The exploitation and use of parallelism is considered as one of the critical issues to the development of multiprocessing and distributed systems. The exploitation of parallelism offers various advantages, in particular, in the automatic detection of parallelism for the distribution of processes to different processors effectively and efficiently in multiprocessing systems, database processing, distributed systems, expert systems, Al based systems, and so forth. This paper discusses the use of PROLOG and PROLOG variants in distributed systems. Starting with the discussion on various sources of parallelism in logic programming, in particular in PROLOG, the paper highlights the features of PROLOG which makes it useful for distributed systems. Some examples of implementations based on these features of PROLOG and PROLOG variants are also discussed. These implementations clearly demonstrate that there is an ever increasing demand and interest among the researchers to use PROLOG in various applications. Further, some current undecided issues in this area/field are also mentioned." @default.
