- W1995364057 abstract "We have employed a three-body-potential (TBP) approach for a successful description of the phase transitions and the equations of state of silver halides. This TBP takes proper account of the charge-transfer [i.e., three-body interaction (TBI)] effects caused by the electron-shell deformation of the overlapping ions. The values of the phase-transition pressures (79, 73, and 4.13 kbar) obtained by us for silver halides (AgCl, AgBr, and AgI) are in better agreement with experiment (87, 83, and 4.0 kbar) than those achieved by earlier workers. The associated volume collapses at the phase transitions have been found to be 9.7%, 8.8%, and 18.6% for these halides; a direct comparison of these values could not be made because of a lack of available experimental data. Our values of relative volumes at the phase transitions are closer to the measured values available only for AgI." @default.
