- W1995368063 abstract "The temperature programmed reaction (TPR) of n-C6 hydrocarbons of various degrees of unsaturation and the thermal desorption (TDS) of benzene were studied over Pt/γ-Al2O3 and Pt-black. Similar triple TPR peaks were observed over both catalysts, the corresponding maxima being at lower temperatures with the unsupported metal. This effect is attributed to hydrogen which is available in a different amount and form over supported platinum. The earlier suggestion of stepwise dehydrocyclization is developed further by assuming the existence of excessively dehydrogenated surface intermediates, the desorption of which requires hydrogen. This reactive desorption of surface species having various degrees of dissociation is manifested by the TPR peaks. A fourth peak, observed with 1,3,5-hexatriene, can be attributed to the cyclization step proper. Differences between starting hydrocarbons of various structures are discussed." @default.
