W drugiej części ankiety dodatkowo zadano pytanie: „Jeśli towarzyszył lęk związany z anestezją przed badaniem, to czy po badaniu uważają, że był on uzasadniony?” Ankietowanych podzielono na dwie grupy. Czynnikiem różnicującym był fakt, czy dziecko badane było po raz pierwszy (n = 73) czy po raz kolejny (n = 67). Informacja o badaniu i znieczuleniu była satysfakcjonująca dla rodziców w obu grupach. Lęk o zdrowie i życie dziecka związany z anestezją był istotnie statystycznie większy w grupie dzieci badanej po raz pierwszy, lecz uzasadnienie lęku po badaniu nie różniło się w obu grupach. Pomimo dużego lęku całość wykonanej procedury rodzice oceniali pozytywnie. Satysfakcjonująca rodziców informacja o badaniu i znieczuleniu daje większe zadowolenie z wykonanej procedury. Lęk o zdrowie i życie dziecka związany z anestezją jest istotnie statystycznie większy w grupie dzieci badanej po raz pierwszy, lecz uzasadnienie tego lęku po badaniu nie różni się w obu grupach. In pediatric patients, it is frequent that sedation or anaesthesia are necessary before magnetic resonance imaging can be applied. The objective of our study was to analyze parents' opinions concerning so-far management routine of the children subjected to MRI procedure in conditions of sedation or anaesthesia. Opinions were collected from 140 parents' with the use of a dedicated two-part questionnaire. The first part was filled in before the MRI examination and contained questions concerning the introductory parent-addressed information on the MRI and anaesthesia procedures, as well as the parent's anaesthesia-related anxiety, while the second part – done after completion of the MRI procedure – asked about the overall level of parent's satisfaction with the MRI and anaesthesia. In addition, the second part of the questionnaire included the question: „If you had had anaesthesia-related anxiety before the MRI procedure, do you think now it was justified?” The respondents were divided into two groups: parents' of first-time MRI-examined children (n = 73) and parents' of children with repeated MRI examination (n = 67). The information concerning the MRI and anaesthesia procedures was found to be satisfactory in both questioned groups. The level of parental anaesthesia-related anxiety was significantly higher in the first group (i.e. of parents' of first-time MRI examined children), but there was no significant difference between the two groups in the post-MRI evaluation of this anxiety and its justification. The overall assessment of the MRI anaesthesia procedures was positive by all the questioned parents', including those with relatively high level of pre-MRI anxiety. Comprehensive, satisfactory introductory information on the imaging and anaesthesia procedures provided to pediatric patient's parent contributes to greater parent's comfort and post-factum satisfaction with the procedures. The parental anaesthesia-related anxiety is significantly higher among the parents' of children subjected to MRI and anaesthesia for the first time, but their evaluation of that anxiety and its justification is not different from that by more experienced parents'." @default.
