- W1996910821 abstract "Stress relaxation tests have been performed on flat tensile specimens of oriented lamellar Al-Al2Cu eutectic alloy, at temperatures ranging from 493 to 683 K. An important parameter resulting from these tests is the long time stress value, which represents in some prospects the internal stresses of the material. We propose to name it asymptotical stress. It was measured in the classical way by alternating negative and positive stress relaxation. At a fixed temperature and for our lamellar material, the asymptotical stress does not depend on the tensile conditions. In the temperature range 523–623 K, the asymptotical stress has the same values that the threshold stress limiting the steady state domain determined in previous creep tests. From our microstructural observations, the mechanical behaviour of the lamellar composite cannot be discussed as the result of the activation of a single deformation mechanism. Over 573 K, both phases and phase boundaries contribute significantly to the deformation processes." @default.
