- W1996985456 abstract "The red, soluble silver-riboflavin complex has been studied by means of spectrophotometry, pH titrations, the method of continous variation, ultracentrifugation and analysis of the solid crystalline material. It is concluded that the number 3 hydrogen atom of the flavin is replaced by silver to give a highly polymerized complex containing silver and flavin in a I:I ratio. The system can be described approximately as consisting of a colloidal complex with a solubility product [Ag+][riboflavin−] = 2·10−12 moles2·1−2at 25°. Lumiflavin forms a similar complex, but 3-methyllumiflavin and isoriboflavin do not. Of a variety of other metals tested only copper (I) gives a similar complex. Titration and spectrophotometry fail to demonstrate the formation of any soluble complexes between flavins and other metals." @default.
