- W1997356402 abstract "B, F and Sr in natural groundwaters of Israel tend either to correlate with salinity or to show consistently high concentrations, rising from a ppb to a ppm level as salinity increases. Their relations to Cl, Na and Ca, as well as their mutual relationship can be used to identify the origin of the salinity. The division of the waters into genetic groups, which generally coincide with their geographical distribution, is based on mBmCl vs. mCl, and mFmCl vs. mNamCl plots, as well as by mSrmCa ratios. The water groups defined in this way exhibit various salinities, each indicative of the processes involved in their evolution, namely, evaporation, leaching and dilution (seawater and brines) or reflect the geothermal origin. These water types are subdivided into two major groups: (1) the western catchment of which the Mediterranean Sea is the base level; and (2) the eastern catchment of which the land-locked Jordan—Dead Sea Rift Valley is a lower base level. This complex hydrogeological system has a multiple origin of salinity, and has evolved through combinations of the above-mentioned processes." @default.
