- W1997978105 abstract "The hydrogenation of carbon monoxide was investigated on several iron catalysts supported on aluminas of different textural characteristics. With a reaction pressure of 15 bar (1 bar = 105pa) the temperature necessary to obtain 20% conversion was found to vary between 550 and 770 K and to depend strongly on the nature of the support. The selectivity was also support dependent. For the less active iron catalyst the C2-C3 olefins fraction reaches values close to 40%. Characterisation of these solids was made by BET area measurements, determination of sodium content and acidity, magnetisation, carbon monoxide chemisorption and thermodesorption measurements. Evidence was obtained for two states of carbon monoxide adsorbed at 294 K on metallic iron. That corresponding to higher desorption temperature (630, 730 K) has been attributed to a dissociated form of carbon monoxide. For the catalysts studied a correlation has been found between the catalytic activity and the dissociated carbon monoxide population as well as the desorption activation energy." @default.
