Doped with rare earth ions can be potential laser and self-frequency doubling generation (SFDG) material. Crystals are grown by the Czochralski method. Optical properties of the Yb 3+ :Bi 2 TeO 5 single crystal are reported. Absorption, emission and luminescence decay measurements were carried out at 6 K and 300 K. The existence of different ytterbium site positions was observed and analysed. The attempt was made to assess the potential laser properties of the Yb 3+ :BTO material; polarised absorption cross-sections and stimulated emission cross-sections are presented." @default.
