Tyrosine residues in rabbit skeletal muscle creatine kinase were classified into two states: (1) 17 residues with a pK of 10.5, and (2) 2 residues with a pK of 11.8, whereas with beef cardiac creatine kinase, all 16 tyrosine residues ionized with a pK of 10.5. 3. 3. Tyrosine residues in the 165.000 dalton protein component were classified into three states: (1) 30 tyrosine residues with a pK of 10.5, (2) 15 tyrosine residues with a pK of 11.8 and (3) 9 non-ionizable tyrosine residues. 4. 4. When the 165,000 dalton protein component was treated with 4 M guanidine hydrochloride, all of the tyrosine residues became ionizable with a pK value of 10.0." @default.
