The 520 nm band appears to be due to luminescence from F centers and exhibits a strong non-linear dependence on XeCl laser intensity. On log–log plots of luminescent intensity vs. pump intensity, straight line segments with I4 and I6 dependence are observed, suggesting that the 520 nm emission is pumped by energy transfer from bi and tri-excitons. Saturation of this emission at high laser flux appears to be due to electron or hole trapping at vacancy defects. Des cristaux de MgO:Al, illuminés par des impulsions provenant d'un laser XeCl, émettent fortement par deux large bandes centrées à 520 et 736 nm. La bande de 520 nm semble provenir de la luminescence de centres F et démontre une forte dépendance non-linéaire à l'intensité du laser XeCl. Un graphique log–log de l'intensité luminescente en fonction de l'intensité introduite, où des segments de ligne droite avec dépendance en I4 et I6, suggère que l'émission à 520 nm est pompée par le transfer d'énergie des bi et tri-excitons.
