The magnetohydraudynamic model has been implemented into the CFX4 code using user subroutines. The physical model is an industrial furnace with three electrodes immersed into the slag. Predictions reveal that the slag flow is quite complex and three‐dimensional. The electric potential, the electric current density and the heat generation drop sharply near the electrode surface. The slag temperature increases with increasing the electric potential. Predictions are validated by comparing the dependence of the slag temperature on the electric potential with the available plant data. The present model can reasonably predict the reasonable range of operational parameters of the furnaces." @default.
