- W1999466460 abstract "The stomach is the least frequent site of congenital intestinal obstruction in the infant. We have found only 12 cases of complete congenital gastric obstruction reported in the English literature.1-10,26-28Incomplete congenital gastric obstruction is more common, and various causes have been described. Although the incomplete congenital gastric obstruction may be less of an emergency than the complete obstruction, it does present a more difficult diagnostic problem. The purpose of this publication is to present a case of gastric obstruction in the newborn and review the various pathological entities leading to gastric obstruction, which have been reported in the literature. Report of Case A 2,700 gm (6 lb) Negro female was the product of a full-term pregnancy of an 18-year-old preeclamptic Negro female with polyhydramnios. Delivery was performed by low forceps extraction. The infant was discharged 48 hours after birth. Family history revealed the mother to have been operated" @default.
