En général, le caractère des faunes de Bryozoaires témoigne d'une influence. téthysienne, conforme á l'existence des autres éléments fauniques du Domaine mésogéen: grands Foraminifères, Polypiers et Rudistes. Un quart de la faune n'a pu être déterminé par suite du mauvais état de conservation ou parce que l'attribution générique ou spécifique restait douteuse. The fauna collected during the construction of the motorway A.10 “l'Aquitaine” comprises about 40 species most of which are of Campanian age; a quarter of them were unidentifiable. Strata of Cenomanian and Turonian age have yielded no speciments. The Coniacian and Santonian faunas are similar to those of the margin of the Paris basin but less diverse. The age of the bryozoans collected as Maastrichtian (Séronie Vivien, 1972) may be Upper Campanian (Neumann, 1980). They correspond to those of the “Craie de Royan” and equivalent localities of the Charentes and the Gironde, among which Callopora (?) seroniae n.sp. is of special interest. A unilaminar Anascan species closely resembles “Semieschara” sp. aff. Norvicia Brydone from the English Santonian and Campanian. The character of the fauna suggests a Tethyan influence as shown by other faunal elements of the Tethyan realm such as larger foraminifers, corals and rudists." @default.
