- W2000202166 abstract "Charge-stripping reactions for a variety of halocarbon cations formed by dissociative ionization of numerous precursor molecules were studied. Evidence was obtained that long-lived excited states of CF+, CF+3, CCl+ and CBr+ can be populated when certain precursor molecules are ionized. By measuring the difference, ΔQmin, in the energies required to ionize ions in their ground and excited states, a measure of the excitation energy of the excited-state ions was obtained. Previous relevant experimental and theoretical studies of the ions were surveyed; the results of these studies led to the conclusion that the experimental data for ΔQmin are compatible with an a3Π1 long-lived excited state for CF+, CCl+ and CBr+. However, the evidence for CF+3 suggests that a long-lived vibrationally excited state of the ground electronic state is populated." @default.
