• W2000248595 abstract "Seismic surveys have been the most broadly used geophysical method of gathering information about the geology of oil and gas fields. With the today’s advanced processing and interpretation techniques, parametric modelling of seismic data allows estimation of rock properties, including porosity and net pay. However, parametric models often turn out to be less accurate and reliable than expected when verified by drilling. Reliable reservoir modelling, which would faithfully image the geology of a real field, obviously requires an integrate approach of using jointly data acquired by different geophysical methods. Currently, electromagnetics has been increasingly more often applied to exploration for oil and gas. In this paper a new approach is suggested to interpret jointly electromagnetic (TEM) and seismic data. A joint interpretation model has been created by means of TEM data inversion with reference to the section structure inferred from seismic and drilling data. The use of seismic- and log-based reference model improves considerably the reliability of the EM inverse solution. A high-quality geological model of the Kovykta gas-condensate field, with implications for the properties and fluid type of the Parfenovsky sand reservoir, has been obtained by joint interpretation of data collected by seismic and resistivity surveys." @default.
