- W2000284810 abstract "The neurosecretion of preoptic nuclei and development of the pituitary gland were studied in tadpoles of Rana esculenta, Pelobates fuscus, Bombina bombina, and Bufo viridis which are distinguished by character of their metamorphosis. Direct dependence between the intensity of the neurosecretion and specific rate of the metamorphosis was established. The removal of preoptic nuclei results in: inhibition of the metamorphosis, hyperpigmentation of integuments, increasing hydrophility of tissue, and atrophy or both pars posterior and eminentia mediana. When the neurosecretion is absent disintegration of the cytological picture of the adenohypophysis with the change of properties of all its secretory cells takes place. Inhibition or elimination of metamorphosis because of it can be prevented by the homo- or hetero-transplantation of diencephalon from other larvae or frogs. These transplantations are most effective when they were made into the brain. Therefore, under disorders of the nervous links the hypothalamic secretion is able humorally to influence the adenohypophysis and to cause the restitution of morphogenetic process." @default.
