L’analyse de la littérature montre que cet outil est performant dans le cadre du monitoring de l’asthme. En effet, il existe de nombreuses études démontrant l’intérêt du NO exhalé pour l’amélioration du contrôle de l’asthme, la prédiction des exacerbations, l’évaluation de la compliance thérapeutique, ou l’adaptation de la dose de corticoïdes inhalés. Actuellement, la mesure du NO exhalé nécessite un appareillage volumineux et coûteux, difficilement utilisable en routine. Le développement d’appareils de mesure portables du NO exhalé, et utilisables dans un cabinet de médecine mais d’un coût encore élevé à l’heure actuelle, devrait permettre la popularisation de la mesure du NO exhalé pour la surveillance de la maladie asthmatique, jusqu’à présent réservé aux laboratoires d’EFR. During the past ten years there has be considerable interest in monitoring exhaled nitric oxide (NO) in asthmatic patients, such that we can foresee that this technique may be used systematically by pulmonary disease specialists. A review of the literature shows that exhaled NO measurement is worthwhile in monitoring asthmatics. In fact, many studies make evident the interest of exhaled NO measurements as a means of improving asthma control, prediction of exacerbations, evaluation of therapeutic compliance and adjustment of the dose of inhaled corticosteroid. Unfortunately, the measurement of exhaled NO requires a large and expensive apparatus that is difficult to use routinely. Portable machines, which could be used in private practice to monitor asthmatics, are still under development and they are still expensive; at present, monitoring is being done mainly in respiratory function laboratories." @default.
