It is shown how the large intensities of 'forbidden' transitions, the observed asymmetric lineshapes and significant shifts of the experimentally measured line positions from those predicted by the usual spin Hamiltonian can all be understood in terms of a single strain-related parameter sigma 2G44=0.016 cm-1. The line shifts lead to an apparent dependence of the spin Hamiltonian parameters on the measurement frequency. Similar effects, if not recognised could be a significant source of error in many other EPR measurements." @default.
