The high capacity for photosynthesis at high light intensities remains both the same in low-light and high-light plants. In plants grown under extreme different light intensities there occurs no essential photosynthetic adaptation. When the plants are transferred from low light into high light conditions, there are remarkable phenomena only at the first day. The chlorophyll and carotenoid content of the leaves is only slightly different between the two types of plants. The typical high chlorophyll a: b ratio of the C 4 plants differs between 3.81 in highlight plants and 3.64 in low-light plants." @default.
