- W2000532704 abstract "Abstract LEARNING OUTCOME: The audience will be able to assess current research and study outcomes on the maitake mushroom; be aware of what forms are presently under development for the lay and healthcare market. Currently intense research is focused on plant-based compounds for cancer prevention and treatment. An area of highly exciting study are the medicinal mushrooms used for millennia within the food as discipline of Oriental medicine The maitake mushroom (Gifola frondosa), indigenous to Japan ,but found wild in the United States and known as chicken of the woods is promising to be very effective in preventing and treating malignant tumors and HIV. The scientific and marketing departments at a Connecticut mushroom company are developing new products based on the maitake. They cultivate it in Connecticut under strict quality control, assuring a safe domestic product. New products containing the active compounds from the maitake include tablets, teas, and extracts. Dietitians and other health professionals are looked to for answers about alternative healing therapies. Our current information provides the latest research results on the maitake mushrooms and how it can be incorporated into cancer-prevention protocols. We are doing market research to see which form would be most effective and accepted by health professionals and their clients. These charts (transparencies or posters) show maitake cultivation from spore to finished product; and results of studies on the maitake as an anti-HIV agent." @default.
