- W2000536251 abstract "Abstract 1. 1. A comparative study of serum lipoprotein profiles of twelve different Old and New World primate species indicated a wide inter- and intra-species variaton. The lipoprotein profile in chimps was the closest to that observed in man. 2. 2. α-Lipoprotein was the predominant lipoprotein class in the majority of the species studied, while pre-β-lipoprotein constituted only a minor component. Old World primates in general had lower levels of β-lipoprotein than others. 3. 3. These observations suggest that serum lipoprotein profiles reflect significant metabolic differences and will be useful in determining inter- and intra-species susceptibility to atherosclerosis." @default.
