- W2000559279 abstract "Using the method of positron lifetime measurements the inhibition of positronium in water by the solutes trichloroacetate, mono chloro-, bromo- and iodoacetates has been investigated. The relation between the inhibition and concentration of solute has been shown to fit I=I0/(1+kC) very well in dilute solutions, with k=2.28, 0.56, 2.25 and 7.2 M−1, for the above sequence of solutes. For the monoiodoacetate the rate constant for the thermal reaction with positronium is 5.75×109 M−1 s−1. The analysis of the data for quenching inhibiting solutes is discussed and the limitations of measurements on such systems established. The data and some other measurements are discussed in relation to the electron scavenging and hot reaction theories of positronium inhibition." @default.
