Chemisorption measurements were made using conventional static adsorption and pulse-flow Chromatographic methods. Oxygen uptakes measured by either technique were found to be highly temperature dependent, while only slightly dependent on pressure. Static adsorption measurements at −78 °C and pulse-flow measurements at 25 °C were found to be reproducible, well correlated and the most suitable for avoiding bulk oxidation effects. The effects of preadsorbed H2S on oxygen uptake were investigated and found to be significant. In the case of the commercial HDS/HDN catalysts, the order of hydrodesulfurization (HDS) activity was predicted by the measured oxygen uptake while hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) activity was not." @default.
