- W2000744958 abstract "Samples of A, X, and Y synthesis gels at 98°C were withdrawn after crystallization for various times, then centrifuged while hot. The solid and liquid phases were examined by laser Raman spectroscopy (LRS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and chemical analysis (Al, Si, Na). LRS and XR D on solid samples detect zeolite structures at about the same time, i.e. when crystallites are about 500Å in size. LRS on the liquids indicates that the Al(OH)4− in the liquids disappeared before any zeolite structure was detected. Solute silicate species which appeared in the liquids during X and Y crystallization, are probably unreacted monomeric and dimeric silicate ions. Chemical analysis indicates the dissolution of silica from the amorphous aluminosilicate gels. The hydroxylated ions condense with Al(OH)4− to form a large variety of complex aggregates. These complexes are soluble polymeric aluminosilicates and form the nuclei of crystal growth. A mechanism for the formation of 4 and 6 ring vs. 5 ring systems is proposed." @default.
