- W2000871363 abstract "Using reciprocal space formalism, we investigate the influence of elastic anisotropy on the ground state energy of square and rectangular domains on (001) faces of cubic crystals. On one hand, for numerous cubic metals of sufficiently high elastic anisotropy, the interaction energy between square domains exhibits attractive basins around ⟨100⟩ directions. These basins are responsible for spontaneous symmetry breaking and lead to the apparition of domain lines. On the other hand, elastic anisotropy has very little influence on the selection of isolated domain shape. For anisotropic microscopic boundary energy favoring boundaries running in ⟨100⟩ directions, the equilibrium shape of stressed domains is always infinite stripes whatever the elastic anisotropy." @default.
