- W2000896887 abstract "The reasons for the predominant effect of the activity of the monomer molecule on the basic kinetic parameters of radical polymerization are discussed. The important part played by the mutual polarizability of the monomer molecule and the radical in the transition state of the polymerization reaction is demonstrated. Variations in electronic transition energies in monomer molecules during UV irradiation and in activation energies in homopolymerization are shown to be related. The polarizability of the reactions site of the monomer molecule and the activity of the monomer in homopolymerization are found to be correlated. It is proposed that the polarizability determines the predominant effect of the monomer molecule on the basic kinetic parameters of polymerization." @default.
