Le traitement du virus rabique purifié par le Triton-X100 à 2% et l'élimination du détergent à travers un gradient de saccharose, conduit à l'isolement de complexes protéiques de densité 1,113–1,117 g/ml. Analysés par électrophorèse en gel de polyacrylamide en milieu dénaturant, ces complexes se révèlent composés des protéines G et M2 du virus rabique. Leur activité protectrice, déterminée par le test des NIH, est 128 fois plus grande que celle du vaccin de référence OMS no 3.
