- W2000974760 abstract "The adsorption of several radioisotopes on contalner materials such as brass, galvanized iron, aluminum, copper, tin-plate, stainless steel, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, glass, porcelain tile, and paraffin was studied. Adsorption from tap water and sea water was measured using I/sup 1//sup 3//sup 1/ , Sr/sup 9//sup 0/, Ce/sup 1//sup 4//sup 4/ Pr/sup 1//sup 4//sup 4/ Cs/sup 137/ - Ba/sup 137m/, Zr/sup 95/ - Nb/sup 95/, Ru/sup 1//sup 0//sup 6/--Rh/sup 1//sup 0// sup 6/ and gross fission products. Adsorption on the metallic surface was greater than on non-metallic. In the case of I/sup 1//sup 3//sup 1/, however, the vinyl sheet showed more adsorp tion than any of the others. A comparison of adsorption from tap water with that from sea water showed greater values for the latter. Adsorption of Y/sup 9//sup 0/ Ce/sup 1//sup 4//sup 4/--Pr /sup 1//sup 4// sup 4/, Zr/sup 9//sup 5/--Nb/sup 9//sup 5/ or Ru/sup 1//sup 0//sup 6/-Rh/sup 1// sup 0//sup 6/ is rather high while Cs/sup 1//sup 3//sup 7/ Sr/sup 9//sup 0/ is lower. Other results showed that the adsorption value for polyethylene is not always smaller than glass, and in many cases glass proved to be the best container material. (N.W.R.)" @default.
