Die besten Ergebnisse erhält man durch Extraktion mit Isoamylalkohol aus 3,5–4,5N schwefelsaurer Lösung. Dadurch wird die Analysenmethode mit reduzierter Molybdokieselsäure viel empfindlicher und gestattet die Bestimmung von Mikrogrammengen Silicium in verschiedenen Arten hochreiner Metalle. Il est difficile de trouver des solvants organiques satisfaisants pour l'extraction de l'acide molybdosilicique réduit, mais l'extraction est possible avec les alcools isoamylique ou isobutylique si la concentration en acide de la solution aqueuse est augmentée avant l'extraction, les meilleurs résultats étant obtenus par extraction à l'alcool isoamylique à partir d'un milieu 3,5–4,5N en acide sulfurique.
