A combination of semiempirical quantum mechanics, ab initio quantum mechanics (Hartree Fock and density functional methods), and hybrid quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics are employed to investigate the structure and bonding of boryl complexes, in particular the extent of metalboron π bonding.
