They can have a detrimental effect on both structural and stratigraphic features. Historically, many methods have been developed to deal with this problem, including statistical, velocity dependant, model based and data driven approaches. Two of the widely used data driven approaches for the attenuation of Surface and Inter‐bed Multiples are SRME & IME. These methods have been widely used in the industry on marine seismic data. PGS managed to modify these methods such that they can work optimally on Land 3D data as well. This paper discuses the successful application of a cascaded multiple attenuation approach on a land 3D data set, where by, data driven approaches SRME & IME were first applied to the data followed by model driven multiple attenuation. This resulted in a significant attenuation of the multiples affecting the target zones. Figure 1 shows an example of final stack data where multiples can be clearly seen cutting through the main target zones as indicated by black arrows.Permalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3063868FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByApplication of true‐azimuth 3D SRME to an onshore Mexican data setSimon Barnes, Roald van Borselen, Humberto Salazar, Alfredo Vàzquez, Israel Ronzón, and Ruben Martinez25 May 2012 SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2008ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2008 Pages: 3713 publication data© 2008 Copyright © 2008 Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished: 15 Dec 2008 CITATION INFORMATION Mohamed Samir Al Nahhas, David Barwick, and Mokhtar Raafat, (2008), Application of cascaded multiple attenuation, on a land 3D data set, South East Abu Dhabi, SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 2527-2530. https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3063868 Plain-Language Summary PDF DownloadLoading ..." @default.
