- W2001623961 abstract "This study focuses on the mechanism of magnetic curtain. Gas flow experiments in nitrogen atmosphere and oxygen atmosphere are carried out first. Flows of carbon dioxide are not blocked by magnetic fields in nitrogen atmosphere. The results show that oxygen as a paramagnetic molecule acts an important role in formation of the magnetic curtain. Second, pressure of gas flow near the magnetic curtain is measured. Flows of gases such as nitrogen and oxygen are supplied to an air gap between magnetic poles, and the differential pressure is measured by a manometer. It is found that the blocking properties of magnetic curtain against gas flow are classified into three regions with respect to flow velocity. When the flow velocity is slow, gas flow leaks out of the magnetic curtain (region I). When the flow velocity is medium, gas flow is blocked (region II). When the flow velocity is fast, gas flow is pinched to pass through the magnetic curtain (region III). Based upon the experimental results, a model of magnetic curtain is introduced, and the magnetic curtain is simulated." @default.
