• W2001756579 abstract "SUMMARY Clinical observations on reproductive function in a stud of Welsh Mountain ponies over a five year period are reported. The development of sexual function in colts and fillies is discussed. Data concerning the effect of season on reproductive performance, the length of oestrous cycles, the time and side incidence of ovulation and the rarity of twin ovulations in ponies are presented. The effect of infusion of the uterus with saline during the oestrous cycle and pseudopregnancy is reported. In the pregnant mare observations were made on uterine tone, follicular growth, ovulation, the incidence of oestrous behaviour, palpation of the conceptus and foetus and embryonic migration and death. RÉSUMÉ On rapporte les observations cliniques faites sur la reproduction dans un Haras de poneys du Pays de Galles durant une période ce cinq années. Le développement des fonctions sexuelles chez les poulains et pouliches, l'incidence saisonnière sur la fertilité, la durée des cycles oestraux, l'époque de l'ovulation, la fréquence de l'ovulation sur un ovaire et la rareté des ovulations gemellaires sont discutés. Les effets de l'irrigation utérine à l'aide d'une solution saline durant le cycle oestral et lors de pseudo-gestation sont rapportés. Sur les juments gravides, des observations furent faites sur la tonicité utérine, sur la croissance folliculaire, sur l'ovulation, sur la frqéuence des comportements oestraux, sur la palpation de l'oeuf puis du foetus, sur la migration embryonnaire et sur la mort du foetus. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Klinische Beobachtungen der Fortpflanzungsfunktionen wurden in einem Gestüt von Welsh Mountain Ponies über fünf Jahre durchgeführt. Die sexuelle Reifung von Hengst- und Stutfohlen wird diskutiert. Die Auswirkungen der Jahres-zeit auf die Fertilität, die Dauer des Oestrus-Cyclus, die Zeit der Ovulation und die Seltenheit von Zwillings-ovulationen bei Ponies werden beschrieben. Die Wirkung von intrauterinen Infusionen mit Kochsalzlösung während des Oestruscyclus und Pseudograviditäten wird beurteilt. Bei trächtigen Stuten werden Beobachtungen angestellt über Uterustonus, Follikelwachstum, Ovulation, Häufigkeit von brünstigem Verhalten, Palpation des Konzeptus und des Foetus und über embryonale Migration und embryonalen Tod." @default.
