• W2002479929 abstract "The reactions of metastable 4s4p 3P calcium atoms with O2 and CO2 have been investigated under single-colusion conditions in a beam-gas arrangement. The CaO product has been detected in the ground X 1 Σ+ electronic state and in the low-lying A′ 1 π and a 3π states. The relative populations in the first four vibrational levels of X1 Σ+ and a rotational temperature characterizing the rotational distribution in υ = 0 have been determined from BX excitation spectra. For both reactions, internal CaO excitation accounts for less than 10% of the energy available in the CaO ground state channel. The 1,3π states are observed by excitation of the unanalyzed green and orange are band systems, and their relative contributions cannot be separated. The excited states have been characterized by measurement of their radiative lifetimes: 32.1 ± 3.8 ns for B 1π υ = 0, 41.9 ± 2.1 ns for the upper state of the green system and 32.7 ± 2.6 ns for the upper state of the orange system. These lifetimes have been used to help derive product electronic state branching ratios from the observed relative integrated fluorescence intensities in different band systems. We fined the ratio of production of CaO product in the a 3π + A′1 qP states as compared to that for X 1 Σ+ is 2.0 for Ca*+ O2 and 0.3 for Ca* + CO2. While the experimental uncertainties are large (a factor of about two), these ratios are significantly larger than predicted statistical results." @default.
