Monte Carlo simulation results are presented for several systems with different size of homotattic patches and different values of their binding energies. It is demonstrated that for any given size of homotattic patches there is a certain limiting value of the binding energy difference delimiting the regions with and without long-ranged order in the adsorbed film. This limiting value of the binding energy difference decreases when the size of homotattic patches increases and goes to zero when the patches become macroscopically big. Thus, it is pointed out that even very small energetic heterogeneity effects must destroy a phase transition in a commonly used patchwise model of a heterogeneous surface." @default.
