- W2003240717 abstract "Abstract Materials for fusion applications will be subjected to radiation that produces large amounts of transmutation product gases such H and He, as well as others. These gaseous products can have a marked influence on material mechanical properties as they affect the microstructural evolution of the material. Previous calculations by others have shown that the 800 MeV proton beam at the Clinton P. Anderson Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) will produce gaseous transmutation products in amounts near those expected in the fusion environment. This report will survey the LAMPF facility from the standpoint of experiment design, temperature control, available experimental volume and available beam time. Calculations have been made that predict that attainable displacement rates at specific available target stations at LAMPF. Results for W, Mo, Al and stainless steel will be reported." @default.
