- W2003261111 abstract "In order to determine the effect of gonadotropins on the metabolism of pregnenolone in the dog ovary, [7 α −3 H]pregnenolone was infused bu the ovarian artery in anesthetized dogs pretreated with the gonadotropins under investigation and steroids containing tritium were isolated in ovarian vein blood. 1. 1. Within 10 min the canine ovary metabolized pregnenolone to 17α-hydroxypregnenolone, progesterone, 17α-hydroxyprogesterone, dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenedione, testosterone and estradiol. 2. 2. Compared to dogs treated with follicle stimulating hormone, dogs treated with luteinizing hormone produced relatively more testosterone than androstenedione. 3. 3. The amount of progesterone formed in the luteinizing hormone treated dogs 4. was not significantly different from that in the follicle stimulating hormone treated dogs, although there was a considerable difference in the histological picture." @default.
