- W2003485386 abstract "spergillus species are ubiquitous and exposure to his fungus is frequent, yet disease due to tissue invaion is uncommon in the immunocompetent host. owever, in the immunocompromised patient, there s an increased incidence of invasive aspergillosis. atients with acute leukemia are particularly suscepible to invasive aspergillosis, with the lungs being the ost common site. The major predisposing factor eems to be the associated chemotherapy-induced ranulocytopenia. Although pulmonary invasive asergillosis is most common, other anatomical sites ave been described as rare including the skin, siuses, cerebral meninges, myocardium, liver, thyroid, enal tissues, and bone. Primary invasive oral asergillosis is also rare, and there is limited information ddressing this problem. A critical review and upate of the literature was performed, followed by iscussion of differential diagnosis, histopathology, nd treatment options. In addition, a case of primary nvasive Aspergillus of the palate in a patient with cute myeloid leukemia (AML) is presented." @default.
