- W2003551377 abstract "Escherichia coli (B and NF-162(RC−)) was grown in the presence of amino acid analogs, in the absence of required amino acids, and at high and low temperatures. The tRNA made under such growth conditions was found to have an altered ability to accept some amino acids. There were no obvious relationships between the growth condition and the change in amino acid acceptance observed. Labeled Val-tRNAVal from each growth condition was chromatographed on RPC-5. Minor changes in Chromatographic profiles were observed for Val-tRNAVal preparations from cells inhibited by several analogs. Cells grown in the presence of α-amino-n-butyric acid showed major differences. Considerable changes were also observed for Val-tRNAVal of arginine- and methionine-deficient cells of strain NF-162 (RC−). E. coli B grown at high or low temperature had much altered Val-tRNAVal profiles. Nine new major valine-accepting tRNAs were observed. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis showed the formation of new bands in the region of 4.5 and 5S RNAs in some of these samples. These bands are thought to represent precursors of tRNAs. No changes were detected in material migrating slower than 5S RNA." @default.
