- W2003886347 abstract "The conformation of the photozyme poly(sodium styrenesulphonate-co-2-vinylnaphthalene) (PSSS-VN) was studied in dilute aqueous solution by performing viscosity and various light scattering (LS) measurements on four PSSS-VN samples of different molar mass (MW). From an analysis of the sequence distribution, the copolymer is made-up of mostly short SSS segments connected by longer VN sequences. The viscosity behaviour of PSSS-VN is typical of polyelectrolyte solutions. The value of b in the relationship DZ,O ≈ MW−b, where DZ,O is the translational diffusion coefficient of the polymer, was greater than the maximum value predicted for a flexible neutral polymer in a good solvent. Based on the depolarization ratio of the static LS intensity, the shape of the macromolecular coil is symmetrical. These results suggest that PSSS-VN forms a rigid random coil with flexible VN-rich joints and is more expanded than its neutral analogue of similar molar mass in a good solvent." @default.
