A parallel finite difference time domain (FD-TD) technique is presented for the Connection Machine using Fortran 8x. INTRODUcTION The finite difference - time domain (FD-TD) method is a numerical technique for direct time integration of the time dependent differential form of Maxwell's (curl) equations. This technique was first proposed by Yee in 1966 [1], it has been further developed and extended in recent years [2,3,4,5]. We have been working on a parallel Connection Machine(CM) solution using this technique for the past several years. The possibility of modelling larger objects faster and cheaper using wideband waveforms has driven this effort to use large numbers of processors in parallel. 2.
