These two amino acids are the direct precursors of dopamine and serotonin respectively.Male Sprague-Dawley rats were injected with a solution containing 75 mg/kg of L-DOPA and 750 mg/kg of DMSO. A second group of animals were injected with a similar solution containing 100 mg/kg of 5-HTP and 750 mg/kg of DMSO.
