Internal energies corresponding to the unstressed b.c.c. and f.c.c. phases, and the required stresses and energy changes for the f.c.c. → b.c.c. transformation in these crystals are presented. Ranges of G and S stabilities are examined according to the Born stability criterion, by calculating the values of corresponding elastic moduli on the line of deformation connecting the stress‐free b.c.c. and stress‐free f.c.c. phases of the crystal.
