- W2004759502 abstract "In situ REE analyses of fresh clinopyroxene from samples of a thick, layered komatiite flow (Fred's Flow), Munro Township, Ontario, are presented and compared with whole-rock analyses. Analyses were obtained by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) with very good precision and accuracy. Matrix problems were avoided by using clinopyroxene calibration curves. The partition coefficients of rare-earth element (REE) between melt and clinopyroxene have been calculated and found to approximate those of basalt systems. The abundance levels of rocks and contained clinopyroxenes support the hypothesis that spinifex zones and cumulate zones formed at the same time, and that the melt may have assimilated significant material from its base." @default.
