The mode shape of the oscillation is arbitrary and hence may be used to describe rigid body motions as well as elastic deformations of the body surface. The wedge problem is solved for small frequency and an exact expression for the pressure distribution is obtained as a function of the mode of oscillation. The analysis presented can be easily modified to treat the case of arbitrary two-dimensional body shapes by developing an unsteady Newtonian flow theory.
