- W2005086172 abstract "Computer-aided potentiostatic pulse measurements were used to investigate the formation, reduction and reoxidation of polyaniline (PANI) films. The current and charge densities are obtained directly while short capacity pulses yield the electrode capacity. PANI formation takes place after a long induction period of some 100 s. Then a fast increase of the current density with time indicates the formation of PANI nuclei and a presumably spherical growth. The nucleation period is accompanied by a fast increase of the electrode capacity while after longer periods of polarization the capacity decreases again. During reduction and reoxidation, which was carried out by means of potentiostatic pulses, two processes can be distinguished. A very thin layer consuming ⋍ 0.3 mC cm−2 is discharged in a fast process with current densities of 1 A cm−2. In a second step, the bulk PANI film is discharged by a much smaller current density of about 10 mA cm−2. The reduction and reoxidation follow the same reaction pattern. In a first approximation the process is explained by an almost constant motion of the reaction front through the polymer film. Partial reduction and reoxidation follow the same reaction pattern but with smaller current densities." @default.
