- W2005388210 abstract "Isotope separation has been achieved using the differences in the radio frequency (rf) spectrum of paramagnetic atoms and molecules in a supersonic nozzle beam. The combination of molecular beam magnetic resonance and supersonic molecular beam techniques were used for the separation process. Separation of the various isotopes of atomic lithium or potassium and molecular oxygen is demonstrated with enrichment factors up to 30. The parameters that effect the enrichment factors were studied. Molecular isotope separation of large and heavy molecules is discussed in view of the possibility of the existence of fast intra-molecular spin relaxation. This technique is believed to have commercial applications in a scaled-up apparatus; the scaling-up possibilities using slit nozzles and planar beams are studied and discussed. This technique is compared with laser isotope separation schemes and its advantages are discussed." @default.
